 蒲地家の概要

1908年に蒲地家の一族が南米へ移住した後、日本語が次第に失われ、それとともに日本に残った親族とのつながりも途絶えていきました。わずか数世代のうちに、両家の交流は完全になくなってしまいました。

しかし、日本に残った蒲地家の方々が、海外へ移住した親族を記念して建立した記念碑のおかげで、私たちは共通のルーツを再発見し、数世代を経て再びつながることができました。

2025年、私たちは鹿児島市で蒲地家の皆様と直接お会いする機会に恵まれました。それは大変感動的な出会いでした。

私たちは一緒に先祖の故郷である坊津町を訪れました。そこで町長とお会いし、地元の蒲地家との連絡を取り持ってくださった新しい観光案内所を訪問し、先祖たちが通っていた学校を見学し、先祖たちが育った地域を歩き、さらに先祖の遺骨が納められている蒲地家の墓をお参りしました。

100年以上前の移住によって離ればなれになった家族が、この再会によって再び結ばれることになったのです。

Overview of the Kamachi Family

After a branch of the Kamachi family emigrated to South America in 1908, the Japanese language was gradually lost, and with it the connection to the family remaining in Japan. Within only a few generations, contact between the two branches of the family had disappeared.

It was only thanks to a monument erected by the Kamachi family in Japan in memory of their relatives who had emigrated overseas that we were able to rediscover our shared roots and reconnect after several generations.

In 2025, we had the privilege of meeting the Kamachi family in Kagoshima City in person. It was a deeply moving experience.

Together, we visited Bonotsu-cho, the hometown of our ancestors. There, we met the mayor, visited the new tourism office, whose staff had helped us establish contact with the local Kamachi family, discovered the former school attended by members of our family, explored the neighbourhood where our ancestors once grew up, and visited the Kamachi family grave, where the ashes of our ancestors are preserved.

What had been separated by emigration more than a century ago was brought together again through this reunion.
